Directory Snoop is a low-level forensic utility that can recover erased files in an emergency, wipe sensitive data, and search for hidden data at the cluster level. Step through your File Allocation Table (FAT) and map individual clusters back to the file that owns them. Purge orphaned (and possibly sensitive) file names right out of the directory structure. $29 shareware for Windows 95 through XP (NTFS drives not supported). Main Features: - Recover erased files, including those emptied from the recycle bin - Locate sensitive data with the search, sort, and viewing functions - Destroy sensitive files with the secure wiping functions - Purge file names in the directory structure left behind after normal erasing Other features - Display true drive contents by bypassing the operating system and reading the raw drive sectors directly - Locate and sort files by name and other attributes with blazing speed - Unerase files including those inside erased directories down multiple levels - Save raw cluster and sector data to standalone files - Dynamically link file tree with cluster chains and file allocation table - Examine the secondary FAT table - View raw directories, files, clusters, and system sectors - View low level BIOS parameter block attributes - View files through external applications - Print file lists and raw clusters - Search files and raw clusters for content - Securely wipe files, slack, clusters and free space up to 35 passes - Verify the effectiveness of other file and disk wiping programs Supports uncompressed FAT12/FAT16/FAT32 disks (hard/floppy/Zip/Jaz/flash memory cards) N.B.
