E´ già disponibile sui server Mozilla la versione 10 del browser Firefox.

Oltre a miglioramenti in termini di sicurezza, velocità e compatbilità, Firefox 10 prevede tra le novità l´introduzione dell´aggiornamento silenzioso simile a quello già presente in Chrome, il quale disabilita in automatico le estensioni non compatibili. Mozilla ha dichiarato che le estensioni compatibili con Firefox 4 e successivi, lo saranno anche con Firefox 10.

Le discussioni relative all´incompatibilità delle estensioni con le nuove versioni di Firefox sono aumentate notevolmente in seguito all´adozione di Mozilla del nuovo sistema di aggiornamento veloce del browser. La problematica coinvolge tutti gli sviluppatori di estensioni Firefox di terze parti, che sono circa il 75%.

Firefox 10 è anche la prima versione inserita nella linea Extended Support Release (ESR) che Mozilla ha realizzato specificamente per le aziende che non possono o non vogliono aggiornare i browser ogni 6 settimane. Firefox ESR prevede aggiornamenti ogni 42 settimane.
